July 2, 09 as I was driving to work, I go by a highway church that had
on its sign out front: July 4th celebration all are welcome. Singing,
food, fireworks.
Here we are still trying to entice the lost and unclean into our
buildings. Which they (buildings) are a good thing, we have to meet
somewhere.
However, they (lost) are not going to come. For a number of reasons of
which I will name just a few.
Number one they know they are not worthy, and that they are lost and
unclean. They know God is Holy.
Now if I could say just one thing right here without upsetting anyone
intentionally, for I say it out of total care and concern for us all:
IF we the church or should I say the hands and feet as well as the
mouth piece, and representatives of God on earth, would truly
administer the oil of healing for the people’s wounds, they would be
flocking to us in desperation to be healed.
But since we don’t, they stay away in droves, and we conjure up new
programs and gimmicks to lure them to us. When Jesus himself said, GO
TO THEM.
We, the holy and self-righteous, tuck in our clothing so as not to touch
the unclean. They know it, people are not stupid, they know when they
are looked at with distain.
Sin is sin, and regardless of our flavor of acceptable sin we all need
mercy from the Father.
He says that the righteous are scarcely saved.
So someone make drink or smoke pot, but we harbor unforgiveness
towards someone who has offended us. Alright, someone may live with
their girlfriend, yet we don’t like folks based on the color of their
skin. Others may get drunk, beat their wives and molest their
children, what they DONT NEED is our self-righteous finger in their
face. Give me the sins of the flesh any day to overcome, how about
overcoming anger, pride, or lust?
What they need is a bonified honest to goodness word from their
Father, to set them free.
If we walk not in humility, to have compassion for the people who also
were created in Gods image, and likewise have a call on their lives
that has yet been realized and developed.
We then will keep on alienating the very people we are trying to win
to Jesus.
So before we want to point an unholy, and ungodly finger at what
people are doing, let’s turn from our own wicked ways and have the
compassion of the Father, touch those around us, get to know them and
see what it is they may need, then and maybe then, they may want what
it is we have.
GO TO THEM. They really want to be set free and to hear from heaven.
We all have that need to know that there is hope, outside of
ourselves, that there really is a caring God. We need to be the ones
to demonstrate that love.
Go in the power of His might, and only say what He says.
